This week was pretty much run of the mill when it came to my workouts, although I did quite a bit of physical labor in between my workouts that I thought would drain me more. Plus, being Derby week I thought I would have more extracurricular activities to attend.
Monday's workout started with the Les Mills Combat Stretch DVD and simple strength routine; bench, barbell row, squats, lunges, dead lifts, planks, handstands, and mountain climbers. I always feel awesome after this workout, this week I pushed myself and by the end my arms and shoulders were hurtin'.
Tuesday's run was pretty good, nothing special just had a good run and felt great. Still would like to shave a little bit of time off my mile time. I picked up my father in law's dog on the way home and she made me run the extra block and a half the whole way, I think she's in better shape than me.
Wednesday is combat day. I take on one of the Les Mills Combat workouts, this week was Extreme Cardio - 60 minutes of boxing, muaythai, and kick boxing. I love the workout, the last few minutes of circle pushups and core work leave me in bad shape but I push through and do what I can. The circle pushups are hard on my shoulder, its still a little behind the times after my surgery but quickly catching up.
Thursday is my fun run day. And by fun run I don't mean I take it easy and have a good time. I switch my workout up to something "fun". This week I did some sprint splints. I ran one mile, and did 10x sprint for 4 houses and walk for 2 houses. Then finished out the rest of the second mile. Yep this workout kills me, I used to love sprints. I save this work out for Thursday specifically because Friday is a rest day.
Saturday's run was different. I don't know why but the 3.2 miles was rough. I've done workouts that were 4 miles or so and they were pretty easy. The only difference is I took Gabby with me on this one. I don't know if her stroller sucks or what but it was harsh.
It was a fun week as far as my workouts are concerned.
